An Overdo Update

Ok, so it’s been a very long time since I last updated this website. I had used it as a learning experience when I started it and my interest in writing posts for it began to fade but that might be about to change.

In a big way.

You see, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a type of brain cancer that is (currently) without a cure. This cancer has made some radical changes to my life and things are, thankfully, still happening. While there is not (yet) a cure for this cancer and there is a high likelihood that it will be the end of me, it has not yet won. My fight against this cancer is still happening and I haven’t given up.

But how does working on a website help me fight cancer?

I know, it seems like an odd priority given that I’m literally fighting for my life but I’ve realized that having a motivation to be alive tomorrow is vitally important. And it doesn’t matter what that motivation is – the only thing that matters is that it motivates me to fight to survive. Is it to see an awesome movie that I really want to see? Well, it is for me because there’s a bunch of awesome movies coming out that I really want to see so I have to survive to see them so the cancer can’t win. Is it to see my sports team win the championship? Well, I want to see my Montreal Canadians with the Stanley Cup so I can’t let the cancer beat me so I fight it as hard as I can.

It doesn’t matter what you focus on so long as it’s NOT the cancer.

Thus, the possibility of using my website again will be a part of that process. Yes, I will discuss my fight against my cancer but it will not be my fixation. Whether it’s a movie or a game or something else I enjoy, I’ll post about that, as well. And more often. But when I need to talk about my cancer and what I’m going through, I won’t pretend it isn’t happening – I’ll discuss it like an adult, post it here, and then put those thoughts to rest and get back to enjoying my life.

Anyhow, there’s some thought and planning that I need to put into place but I figured I’d at least post this update – the whisper-jeff website is going to become active again. Active for my thoughts on games and movies and other geeky joys in life; active for posts of photos that I’ve been taking; and active for updates of what I’m going through in life.

I hope you’re looking forward to it because I’m looking forward to doing it.
